Library Feedback Drive

In August 2026, we invited residents across the Skaneateles Library service area to share their thoughts on current library services and the library’s future.

Thank you to the more than 140 people who took the time to respond. Your input means a great deal, and we’re grateful for the honesty, care, and creativity so many of you brought to your answers.

What we heard

We reviewed and analyzed every response, and five clear themes emerged:

  1. Books, literacy, and learning remain at the heart of what people value
  2. People want more — and better — space
  3. Access to the current library can be difficult
  4. People want expanded programming and opportunities to gather
  5. Clear communication matters

What happens next

This feedback will directly shape the Library’s 2027–2031 Strategic Plan. Over the coming months, we’ll use these five themes to guide priorities and decisions as the plan comes together.

We won’t be able to act on every individual suggestion — financial, spatial, regulatory, and other practical constraints mean some good ideas won’t move forward right now. But we’re committed to staying transparent as this process unfolds: as decisions are made, we’ll share what changed, what didn’t, and why.
