Sensory Play
Fridays, January 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st at 9:15 AM
Sensory play supports language development, motor skills and social interaction as children play, investigate and explore their world. This program gives children a chance to interact with a variety of toys and activities that engage their senses. For babies who can sit up independently – 2 year olds. No registration.

Family Book Club
Sunday, January 5th at 2:30 PM
This month’s book is The Giving Tree by Shel Silberstein. Family Book Club is for families with a child in 1st or 2nd grade. It encourages family read aloud time at home and then brings everyone together at the library for a fun activity. No registration.

Open Minecraft
Monday, January 6th from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Drop-in after school to play Minecraft Education Edition on our laptops or bring your own device. Laptops are limited and kids may have to work in pairs. For ages 8 – 12. No registration.

Movie Matinee
Wednesday, January 8th at 2:00 PM
The continuing story of the Crawley family, wealthy owners of a large estate in the English countryside in the early 20th century. Rated PG, 2h 2min, 2019. Popcorn provided! No registration necessary.

US Census Jobs Information

A recruiter from the US Census Bureau will be available at the front table in the library to discuss open Census jobs and take applications.

Creativebug Kids: Make Your Own Journal
Thursdays, January 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Kids will take an old book and turn it into a journal using simple skills: inking, painting, collage, and more. Each session begins with a short prompt and video tutorial through Creativebug (an online resource for Skaneateles Library cardholders) and time for kids to create and experiment with a variety of materials. For ages 8 – 12. Registration for the entire session required.

Vipassana Meditation

Cookbook Club: Middle Eastern Cuisine
Monday, January 13th at 6:30 PM
This club meets once a month to share a potluck style meal. All you have to do is bring a prepared dish to share and the recipe that inspired you. Registration appreciated.

Chess Club: Winter Session
Tuesdays from January 14th to March 10th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (no meeting on Feb. 18th)
Learn to play chess at the library! During this winter session, kids will learn the basics of chess. Led by our teen volunteer, the session is a combination of lessons about the different chess pieces, the rules of the game, and simple strategies combined with games and chess play. For ages 8 – 12. Registration for the entire session required.

CNY Reads Discussion: There There by Tommy Orange

Join us in Library Hall for a book discussion on There There by Tommy Orange (CNY Reads 2020 featured book). The novel follows twelve characters from Native communities all traveling to the Big Oakland Powwow, all connected to one another in ways they may not yet realize. Pick up a book at the front desk. Guitar Concert: Giancarlo Sidoli
Saturday, January 18th at 7:30 PM
Giancarlo Sidoli has played classical guitar in a variety of settings since the age of 16. From the concert stage as a soloist, chamber musician, and basso continuo player he has performed music ranging from the renaissance through to today from countries as diverse as Spain, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Cuba, and Brazil. Giancarlo has performed in the annual CGSUNY Fall Festival as a guest performer for a number of years since 2006. Giancarlo received his Masters of Music in Guitar Performance from SUNY Fredonia where he studied with Evan Drummond, James Piorkowski, and Luis Zea. Free. No registration.
