Chess Club
Tuesdays, October 1st to November 26th at 4:00 PM
Learn the basics of chess with help from our teen volunteer and spend some time playing. Each week kids will learn about the different chess pieces, rules of the game and simple strategies to use during play. For ages 8 – 12. Registration required for the entire session.

Minecraft Club
Thursdays, October 3rd to 24th at 4:00 PM
Learn how to plant, make recipes and gather food in creative and survival modes. Each session is taught by a Minecraft expert who will share her secrets, answer your questions and get you ready to build using Minecraft’s Education Edition on our laptops. For ages 8 – 12. No registration.

Vipassana Meditation
Thursdays, October 3rd, 17th and 31st at 6:00 PM
Join the Finger Lakes Mindfulness Meditation Group to learn about and practice Vipassana meditation. No registration.

Family Book Club: Pink is for Blobfish by Jess Keating
Sunday, October 6th at 2:30 PM
Family Book Club is for families with a child in 1st or 2nd grade. It encourages read aloud time at home and then brings everyone together at the library for a fun activity. No registration.

Fall Leaves Wreath
Monday, October 7th at 6:30 PM
Make a festive wreath with shimmery paper leaves, perfect for fall decorating. All materials provided. Free. Registration required.

Skaneateles Library Board Meeting
Tuesday, October 8th at 6:30 PM
The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open and the public is welcome to attend.

Toddler Craft
Thursday, October 10th at 11:00 AM
Join us after story time (10:30 AM – 11:00 AM) to make a fall craft! No registration.

Afternoon Book Club: Quiet by Susan Cain
Thursday, October 10th at 1:30 PM
Pick up a book at the circulation desk. Quiet has the power to permanently change how we see introverts and, equally important, how they see themselves. No registration.

Drop-in Play
Monday, October 14th from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Drop-in and play with a variety of toys. For all ages. No registration.

Nailed It!
Monday, October 14th at 2:00 PM
Inspired by the Netflix show, Nailed It!, kids and teens are challenged to recreate a spooky Halloween treat using the materials in front of them in 20 minutes. Once finished, everyone is invited to look at all the creations and vote for the decorator they think “nailed it.” For ages 7+. Registration required.

History of Astronomy Lecture
Saturday, October 19th at 2:00 PM
Learn about the history of observational astronomy from astrophysics student, Tyler Beagle. Find out what Newton, Galileo, Kepler, Hubble and many others did that made them famous! Weather permitting, a solar viewing is planned for after the lecture. Tyler Beagle is a member of the Syracuse Astronomical Society and CNY Observers. He also is a student at SUNY Geneseo studying Physics and Astronomy, with plans to get his Ph.D. in Astronomy. No registration.

Guitar Concert: Warren Nicholson
Saturday, October 19th at 7:30 PM
As an active soloist and chamber musician, Nicholson has played for the Riverside Church Sunday Chapel Series, Mac Master University’s Visiting Artist Series and “Music Mondays.” Nicholson studied guitar with John Donovan, Lynn Harting-Ware, Peter Mac Allister, Norbert Kraft and Mark Delpriora. Free. No registration.

Cookbook Club: Oktoberfest
Monday, October 21st at 6:30 PM
This club meets once a month to share a potluck style meal. All you have to do is bring a prepared dish to share and the recipe that inspired you. Registration appreciated.

Baby Bounce & Rhyme
Wednesdays at 9:15 AM
Bond with baby during this short program designed for children from birth to 18 months old. The first 15 minutes will feature nursery rhymes, movement, books and finger plays, followed by open play where children and adults are encouraged to socialize. No registration.

Read, Sing, Play: Toddler Story Time
Thursdays at 10:30 AM
Join us for stories, songs and movement. For ages 18 months – 3 years. No registration.
